VOLUNTEERING
If you have any question, just contact me. For the case, that you are interested in volunteering on our farm, it would be nice, if you write me a message a little bit in advance. As soon as we know that you will come, I will also explain you detailed everything about transport to our place. The closest big city is Oradea. Close to my village are two little cities, called Stei and Beius. From Oradea, Stei or Beius I will arrange a pick up for you to my house.
Type of Help
Gardening
There's a lot to do on the fields, when the Harvest season has started. Also just general maintance of our lovely plants.
Farmstay
You can make trips to other cities with the other Volunteers. Sometimes we cook together.
Building
We build new greenhouses or just repair a fence. We are happy for new ideas and new projects.
Help in the House
Help to keep the house clean with making the dishes. Help to repair some things to keep the place as lovely as it is.
Internet/Computer
We really need help fro young people to create advertisement or just for general technical issues.
Language Practice
Try to improve your English skills while talking to other volunteers or employees. try to learn some words in Romanian.
Accommodation
Our cozy house has 4 rooms with 8 beds, furniture and a desk. In the living room is a television to share. On top we habe 2 bathrooms and a central kitchen (together with the living room) with good equipment to cook.
We enjoy to eat seasonal fruits and vegetables from our own garden, what we also offer you. You receive three meals a day or at least the ingredients for it.
In your leisure you could use the little fitness room of our house or play Sport-GameCube.
Our heating system is working with a chimney from the living room. It means, we put pieces of wood in the chimney in the living room and the water becomes hot, so that you can have a warm shower.
Season Work
April - June
- check + repair the waterpipelines (after winter season)
- reconect pumps to waterpipelines
- check + repair plastic film around plants
- build up new lines of plants and fill the lines with special substrate
- fertilize the plants
- unweeding
- maybe build a new rooftop
July - August
- blueberry harvest
- organising and caring for blueberries
- make them ready for selling
- starting of wine production
- producing of marmalade
September - March
- unweeding
- plant preperation for winter (cutting)
- build up new lines of plants and fill the lines with special substrate and sawdust
- If it's warm, the season starts in the beginning of February
